How we work
Nobody here has measured a television
RGBTVs does not own a colorimeter, a pattern generator or a dark room. We have never taken a measurement from a television and we never present one as if we had.
What this site actually is
A structured database of televisions and a set of pages that are views over it. The value is in the organisation and the sourcing, not in testing we have not done.
Where specifications come from
Every specification carries a marker showing its source and the date it was checked:
- Mfr — the manufacturer's own specification sheet or product page
- Std — a standards body, such as the HDMI Forum or VESA
- Test — published measurements from a credible third-party test lab
- Retail — a retailer listing, used only for availability and configuration, never for performance
If we have not verified something, the page says Not enough data. It does not say nothing, and it does not fill the gap with a plausible number. A performance figure sourced from a retail listing is rejected automatically, because listing copy is written by a marketing department.
Why we call them analyses, not reviews
A review implies someone used the product. Ours are labelled RGBTVS Analysis, and no page emits Review structured data or a star rating. We could not display an Amazon star rating even if we wanted to — the catalogue API returns none for televisions — but we would not anyway.
How products are chosen
Ranking follows verified specifications and suitability for the use case a page is about. It never follows commission. Where we do not have enough verified data to rank honestly, the page says so and orders by price instead.
How prices work
Prices are captured from Amazon when the site is built, and every one is shown with the date it was captured. They change constantly. Price and availability are taken from Amazon at the time shown and can change. The price on Amazon at the time of purchase applies.
Affiliate links
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Buy links are amber; editorial links are blue. That is deliberate, so you can tell at a glance which links earn us money. Full disclosure.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and change the verification date. Because facts live in one database rather than in each page, a correction propagates everywhere that fact appears.
