RGB TV vs OLED
For almost every US buyer today, this is not yet a real choice — you can buy the OLED.
One RGB-backlit television is listed on Amazon US and it is out of stock. The comparison below is about what to expect when that changes, and about whether it is worth waiting.
Where an RGB backlight should win
Bright rooms. The whole point of producing coloured light directly is holding colour saturation at high brightness, and that is precisely where OLED gives ground — a sunlit living room, daytime sport, HDR highlights on a large screen.
Where OLED still wins
Dark rooms, and it is not close. OLED switches off individual pixels, so black bars are black and there is no blooming around subtitles. No backlit LCD, RGB or otherwise, matches that.
The honest answer on waiting
Waiting for a category with one out-of-stock listing means waiting an unknown length of time for an unknown price. If you need a television now, buy on the room you have.
